Vlogging is one of the most popular things on the internet
now. People love it and some YouTubers are making a lot of money from their
vlogs. For some of them, they have turned professional, and vlogging is their
job.
It seems that they have the perfect life and more people are
turning to vlogging to make their living. Some people are even quitting their
jobs so that they can devote more time to their vlogs.
So, what are vlogs?
A vlog is a video log. It is like a journal entry in a form
of video content and then user upload it from their account on a content site
for the world to see. Some vloggers will record their whole lives and put the
videos online.
Viewers love watching vlogs because they love seeing how
other people live their lives. It is kind of like getting permission to become
nosy and peek at other people as they go about their business.
How do they make money?
It seems difficult to imagine how vloggers can make money
from filming their lives, but actually it is quite simple. A network will pick
up the vloggers with enough viewers and they get paid for each video they
upload.
The network will give them a wage, but they will have to
stick to a filming schedule and if something happens and they are late with
their upload, then they might incur a penalty, or they might not get paid for
that video.
Some networks will pay them once they have had exposure for
a certain advert. The vlogger will have to film the advert themselves, as if
they had used the item that they are advertising.
Then, the vlogger can film a video about whatever he or she
wants and then they will edit it so that the advert appears on the end of the
clip. They will have to have a disclaimer at the beginning saying that their
video content is sponsored. The more people watch the video and click on the
advert, the more money they will get paid. So, it is kind of like they will be
paid commission.
Lights, camera, action!
Lighting: The best option is to position yourself near a
window, letting the sun light your face. The goal is to make sure your face is
well lit so the viewer can see all that passion about Bounce dryer sheets being
emoted on your expressive features. If you have to use artificial lighting,
avoid relying just on overheads, which can shadow your eyes and simply not
provide enough light. I'd advise using a desk lamp set up near eye level to
supplement.
Sound: Using your camera's built-in microphone should be
good enough; however, make sure you're somewhere quiet. That means eliminating
as much background noise as possible, including the sound of your laundry being
dried to static-free perfection.

Filming:
Shooting a video is a tedious job but yet you have to master
it. Your viewers are not stupid. Once you have decided to become a vlogger then
it is very important that you find the right camera. Resolution of video
uploaded by you does matter on the number of viewers play it and stay tuned
with it. If you just sit on the couch and use your camera phone to film the
vlogs, then they are going to get fed up.
There might be times when the clip is dark or they can't
make out what you are saying. Therefore, they won't tune in for the next clip
if you continuously make bad footage.
So, find a nice camera that you don't mind carrying around
with you and you can get the footage that you need to make interesting vlogs.
If you don't think something is interesting, then odds are your viewers won't
find it interesting either.
Upload:
It is very important that you keep to an uploading schedule
so that your viewers know when you are going to have new footage. Otherwise, they
won't know went to tune in.
Also, you should find a platform that is right for you and
build a fanbase there. Don't just stick to YouTube because of its popularity.
You might get a more loyal following if you chose a new platform, which has
free videos for the viewers. Plus, you won't have as much competition, so you
are more likely to get a following faster.
